Transmed Hair and Cosmetic Surgery Clinic Medical Director Dr. Melike Kulahci, who has a seat in the executive board of International Hair Restoration Surgery Association ISHRS, the world’s leading organization about hair transplant and the only Turkish doctor recommended in Hair Transplant Network that is the hair transplant forum followed at most across the world, explains the results of the latest search conducted on hair:
“Turkey ranks second right after USA around the world with regard to the demand for hair transplant.”
Transmed Hair and Cosmetic Surgery Clinic Medical Director Dr. Melike Kulahci, which is shown as a point of reference about Hair Transplantation in Turkey, says that: “The information received from ISHRS is very surprising. Turkey appears as the country where the demand for hair transplant is most commonly seen after United States. We are working hard to take the sector further ahead as Transmed, Turkey’s pioneer with respect to hair transplant.”
According to the results of this year of the research made once every two years by ISHRS;
The number of patients, who have applied treatment to stop hair loss, showed an increase of 26% worldwide from 2006 to 2008. This also shows that personal care awareness has risen.
Meanwhile, 9% increase is seen in hair transplant operations made.
On the basis of the country, the country having the most hair transplant operations is United States. Furthermore, although a very small portion of the potential prefers treatment. Turkey is shown as second country with respect to the demand for hair transplantation. Especially, Istanbul is among the leading cities in respect of hair transplant.
It is really a proud of Turkey to be first among the countries preferred for hair transplant in recent years, to be reliable with respect to Hair and Treatments.
In the meantime, the Middle East takes attention as the place where the number of procedures related to hair surgery has increased.
We see that hair transplant prices vary depending on countries. Turkey keeps on offering appropriate prices compared to the quality of services provided. Although the hair transplant prices vary according to the treatments of the people, it is a stage that is decided after a medical examination.
Even though the hair transplant prices are low in Turkey compared to Europe, it has achieved to maintain its attractiveness by offering the same quality and service.
Meanwhile another interesting result in the study is that women has become aware of hair loss each passing day and started to seek for definitive solutions for their problems. A 10% growth is seen in both hair transplant and dermatological interventions across this segment and this growth is increasing exponentially every year.
The people aged between 30-49 have hair transplant operations at most around the world. 59.6% of all men and 54.9% of all women prefer to undergo this operation while in this age range. However, considering two genders comparatively in general, it is seen that men undergo hair transplant operation when they’re younger than women.
Men comprise the vast majority of people who have hair transplant operation in Turkey.
A second operation had also been usually needed because of the operations which had been done until 2004 couldn’t provide hair density desired. Meanwhile today, the number of operations required to attain the desired density has dropped to 1.4 from 2.2. This also indicates that much more successful operations are carried out and satisfactory results can be obtained more effectively in respect of the patient for longer periods with a single operation.
FUT technique has been used at most contrary to common belief in all hair transplant operations done up to now. The rate of attempt carried out with FUT technique is 88.5% when considering the general. According to the study, there is also an explanation for the dominance of FUT technique among other methods. The reason is that Trichophytic closure method, which started to be used recently and has been utilized actively for last three years in Transmed, leaves traces expressed as ‘invisible’ and acceptable aesthetically.
