Hair Transplantation Methods
|
Hair transplantation is a procedure of transplantation of hair roots. As performed worldwide, hair roots can be obtained form the head in two ways.
Method 1
FUT:
Hair roots are obtained form the donor area as a band, separated one by one and prepared for transplantation. |
Method 2
FUE:
Hair roots are obtained form the donor area one by one and prepared for transplantation. |
 |
 |
Since FUE technique does not leave a visible scar in the donor area, it has become more common in recent years. However, the importance of FUT operations still continues in individuals in whom FUE can not be performed.
Independent of the technique by which the hair roots are obtained, the most important criterion of successful hair transplantation is a naturally appearing outcome.
For a natural outcome
Observation of the HAIR not the OPERATION is essential at the end of the intervention. For a natural result
a MAGNIFIER and a MICROSCOPE should be used. Accuracy of the microscope provides the intervention not to be visible by naked eye and the outcome to appear natural.
19-23 micron needles are used depending on the transplantation area and the structure of the hair and thin razor heads are used for lateral cuts. These technical devices should be micrometric and should be prepared carefully for the canals opened not to leave scars.
Transplantation of hair root directions with right angles is very important for a natural outcome.
Currently, a hair transplantation during which 40-90 follicular units per square centimeter are transplanted using microscope and magnifiers and the direction of hair root canals are determined correctly gives the most productive outcome in the hands of a right plastic surgeon.
A successful hair transplantation attempt is to use the hair roots in the donor area with full efficiency. The hair root wasted as a result of an attempt of hair transplantation is not renewed. Therefore, use of the hair roots with full efficiency is the prerequisite for success.
A successful attempt of hair transplantation is completely harmless for health
Hair surgery is the area of operation for specialist surgeons both in our country and in many other countries in the world. However, it is informed more and more commonly that assistant technicians who previously worked in some centers as nurses perform interventions introducing themselves as physicians.
Do absolutely not allow nurses and personnel educated as medical assistants to perform interventions on your skin with cutters and needles. It is illegal for a nurse to perform surgical intervention. It is also medically wrong and punished with irredeemable prison sentence. Be aware of the patients’ rights! For protection from vital risks do not allow the procedure to be started without seeing the plastic surgeon who will perform the operation and do not allow local anesthetics to be administered by nurses!
What is follicular unit?
Follicular unit is the natural hair bundle composed of multiple hair roots. These units can be differentiated under three-dimensional microscope. Since it is a structure with anatomic integrity, maintaining and transplanting it on a new location renders the outcome of hair transplantation both natural and more efficient. Dividing these units carelessly may lead wasting of a few roots, which may shorten the life of the new hair. Transmed assures working completely with Follicular Unit in all surgical hair transplantation interventions.
What kind of a hair density should I expect in hair transplantation?
Scientific researches show that a hair density of 80 hairs with medium thickness per square centimeter can cover the skin completely. However, this density is related to the richness or poorness of the follicular units in terms of hair roots. While a density of 30 hairs per square centimeter can be obtained with “units including mostly triple roots”, this figure increases up to 40 with “units including mostly double roots”. Hair density should be discussed with the Plastic Surgeon who will perform hair transplantation and rule of thumb methods should be avoided. |
