Laser Epilation

Lazer EpilasyonLaser epilation is a persistent method which destroys the hair without damaging the skin using laser lights with the appropriate wave length. Here, the target is the melanin pigment which is found in the structure of hair. In the procedure, the light processes along the shaft which acts as a conductor for the root and damages the hair root by heating. However, it is not possible that all hair absorb the light in the same level in one session, because the hair is in a physical cycle as every cell of our body. Therefore, it is only possible to get rid of undesired hair with a few sessions.

In addition, it is desired that melanine found in the hair to be very intense in relation to the surrounding skin which means “dark hair on a light skin” to provide an optimum effect without harming the skin. Otherwise, sessions last longer, since lower doses than required will be used not to harm the skin. Since the number of sessions generally depends on hair intensity, color and skin type, the required number of sessions to remove the hair in the same region varies from person to person.

Laser EpilasyonThe hair in our body has three stages including growth, rest and losing phases. If laser is applied, when the hair is in the growth phase, it is possible that it is destroyed persistently in that session. Therefore, an interval of 1-2 months is recommended to be kept between the sessions. If laser is applied to the hair which is not in the growth phase, the hair is almost fumigated and it cannot complete the mission of reaching the laser light to the hair root.

Although sessions vary depending on the region of the hair and genetic properties of the person, approximately 3-8 sessions with 1-2 months intervals may need to be performed. The hair with a length of 0.5 cm above the skin are appropriate for laser epilation, if at least one month has passed since the last session.
Laser epilation can be performed in anyone who is older than 16 years of age, whose hair structure is appropriate, whose hair color and skin color are markedly different and who has no hypersensitivity to light.

Developed system
During the process of epilation the hair should not be removed with nippers or thread. This method renders the hair less sensitive to laser by thinning the hair roots. In addition, laser epilation should not be performed following the 48-72 hours after sunbath a solarium and the person should not be exposed to sun light or solarium for a few weeks after the procedure.

The objective is to heat the hair roots and remove them in this way during laser epilation.. To perform this procedure without harming the superficial layer of the skin cooler heads or gases are used. The presence of cooler heads of current laser epilation devices is the most important issue comparing them superior to the others.

Hair intensity which is discomforting in women can also be discomforting in men in the regions including the area between the eyebrows, cheekbones, arms, neck, back and chest. In men, laser epilation is beneficial both for resolving this intensity and for prevention and treatment of ingrown hair which may develop due to shaving on the neck region.
Since men have darker and thicker hair structure compared to women, the result of laser is expected to be better. However, epilation sessions may need to be repeated in the long-term, since testosterone decreases the effect of laser.

To prevent feel of pain during laser epilation procedure new laser devices include cooling systems. Alexandrite and diode laser devices which are used in our clinic include cooling systems.
